Alpha-Hydroxy

I received an email from one of my Preferred Customers today asking if she should continue her use of alpha-hydroxy as she believes it is the key to looking young.

My reply to her was that the number one cause of skin aging is the sun and AHA's (alpha-hydroxy acids) remove that top layer of skin that is the protective barrier against UVA/UVB rays.

I have emailed Narelle for more information on why people should not use AHA's and will post her reply here. In the meantime, does anyone have information or advice on why we should avoid or use AHA's?

Thanks!
Candy

The issue here is that most AHA products don't actually feed the skin, they just slough it off, dissolving the upper layers to reveal younger and younger (premature) skin. This contributes to long term thinning of the skin (which ages). But the main point is the primary role is to dissolve the skin, so the younger premature skin shows.... they do nothing for the long term health and support of the skin.
